I have decided that it's time to change
how I write G|d's name. It's good to swap 'em out every so often, the spellings, so they don't get stale, you know? First I did G-d, then Gd, now G|d. This is my favorite one yet. It's the most aesthetically appealing, at least I think so.
The eternal question for me, though, is: what about when we're referring to other deities? Like, G|d is such a great word because it's short, and "de-i-ties" is a mouthful. So if I'm referring to the Greco-Roman gods and goddesses, do I type it like I've just done now, or is g|ds and g|ddesses more correct?
You know, I answered my question while I was typing, because the latter felt viscerally wrong. If part of the point is to honor G|d's name, then why extend that honor to an otherwise random set of words? Gods, godly, godspeed, all that.
You know (you don't), I've always sort of been able to "see" how words are spelled just…in my mind. Like someone says a word, and I know how it's spelled. I know what looks right. But now it's not just a mind-feel, it's a viscera-feel. Fully embodied effortless spelling mastery. My one true gift.
